3 Hotels To Stay At for a Better Night's Sleep

For most vacations, hotel rooms are really only used to sleep in. This is why the comfort of the bed is usually the best measure for the quality of a hotel. With the sleep revolution rising over the past few years and more people prioritizing quality sleep, there’s no wonder that the hospitality industry is taking notice. Many hotels around the world are embracing this focus on sleep by offering unique sleep environments or pushing the message of overall wellness to provide their guests with the best possible sleep they could imagine.

Here are three hotels that focus on sleep. And they may change the way you book hotels forever.

Ellerman House - Cape Town, South Africa

In business for more than 25 years, Ellerman House features both a hotel and villa to allow their guests to pick the stay that fits for them. Their hotel only has 13 individually styled rooms.

Ellerman is unique in the field of sleep because they offer a one-of-a-kind sleep-focused retreat in one of their sleep rooms. Unlike many other hotels that provide sweets and treats, electronic devices galore and the biggest TV they can, Ellerman sleep rooms actually contain zero electronic “distractions” as they call them. All their sleep rooms are set to 18 degrees - optimal sleeping temperature. Their rooms come with a “sleep pack” containing lavender, lemon verbena, argan oil and chamomile. They also provide sleep masks and special pillows all with the goal of providing you the best night’s sleep they can.

Their sleep rooms were designed with Harry Jameson - a multi-service wellness company that focuses on data-driven analysis of stress, nutrition and sleep.

So, if you ever find yourself in Cape Town and want to experience the sleep of a lifetime, Ellerman House is the place to stay.

The Benjamin Hotel - New York, New York

The Benjamin is located in Midtown East in Manhattan, in the “heart of the world’s best shopping, dining, architecture and entertainment.”

Their Rest & Renew program focuses on quality sleep and relaxation. Developed with Dr. Rebecca Robbins, their sleep program provides guests with a selection of 10 different pillows, on-demand meditation, sleep mask, ear plugs, blackout curtains, noise machines and lullabies, a 24/7 sleep team and a specialized menu created specifically for sleep.

Some of the pillows on their pillow menu include a 10 foot or 5 foot body pillow, a pillow with built-in speakers to sing you lullabies as you snooze, an anti-snore pillow, a water filled pillow and both side and back sleeping pillows.

Dr. Rebecca Robbins is a sleep researcher and co-author of the book Sleep for Success! She currently teaches at Harvard’s Medical School  and is an Associate Scientist at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Cavallo Point - San Francisco, California

Located at the northern end of the Golden Gate Bridge, Cavallo Point is in the historic center of Fort Baker and within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The hotel was named after the type of wild stallions that used to live in the area hundreds of years ago. This hotel aims to offer a unique experience, both during the day and at night.

Their Restorative Sleep Experience gives guests access to a Bryte Restorative Bed. This bed is an AI powered bed from Bryte, a company local to California. With multi-sensory relaxation and dynamically shifting pressure points in the mattress, this mattress adjusts automatically to help you fall asleep and stay asleep. It also adjusts temperature to help balance your body out during the different sleep stages. This mattress truly is the future of sleep.

Along with use of the Bryte Restorative Bed, the Restorative Sleep Experience at Cavallo Point in San Francisco also provides guests with a specialize aromatherapy diffuser before bed, sleep mask and bedtime tea, and relaxing bath salts for a “pre-slumber soak”.

A Hotel Sleep like No Other

These three are just a selection of dozens of hotels that are starting to prioritize the sleep experience they offer to guests. Consider looking up sleep focused hotels next time you’re booking a vacation. You may just have the best sleep of your life.
